Job Description

RHA Howell is looking for a passionate, driven, and resourceful Teacher Assistant for the Anson Children's Center.

Anson Children’s Center is a five-star licensed developmental day center providing inclusive services to all children. Previously known as Anson Developmental Day, Anson Children’s Center has been the only center-based program for special needs children age birth to five for thirty years. The Anson Children’s Center maintains the highest state licensing rate and provides services within an environment that offers an opportunity for children to develop to their fullest potential.

Primary responsibilities include providing the full array of educational services, both indirectly and directly to the clients assigned to his/her caseload assuring the quality/quantity of education programs for clients assigned to his/her caseload.

Job Responsibilities include the following:
  • Conduct training/treatment programs (Goal/Objective Training,) under the direction of the teacher.
  •  Conduct activities that meet the needs of each individual (Integrative Activities). Assure class schedules and other routines are followed. 
  • Assist in the development of activities for weekends and holidays. Assist in basic care of individuals, including instruction in such skills. 
  • Accompany individuals on field trips. Assists in the implementation of behavioral support plans and documenting such.
  • Collect appropriate data as assigned. Record progress of individuals as assigned. 
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, attending meetings as needed on individuals. 
  • Document activities and other significant events in the individual’s records. Participates in the Quality Assurance Assessment system as assigned. Participates in special events as assigned.



Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. with at least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • A valid North Carolina driver’s license may be required.  Personal auto liability insurance is mandatory if transporting service users in private/personal vehicle(s)
  • Maintain the requirements for annual or 5-year cycle certification through the Department of Public Instruction.  Maintenance current/valid Teaching certification/license, or actively working towards requirements for such as deemed appropriate.  Maintain birth to kindergarten certification when obtained.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Maintain proficiency in company sponsored/required training.  The following certifications may be required: CPR, First Aid, NCI A, NCI B, CPI, and/or others as specified/required by state and federal standards/regulations and/or company policy.
